Koenigsegg CCX

The CCX is the last vehicle built at the end of the Koenigsegg CC. The Koenigsegg CCX is practically a new car, as its engineering was completely redesigned in many ways to comply with U.S. regulations This is a great demand in this market.

This complex process of redesign was a major challenge for the team of the Swedish brand, which strove very hard to maintain the outer shape of the car. Considered very important to avoid changing the aerodynamic shape of the CC range.

The CCX abbreviation means "Competition Coupe X". The Koenigsegg CCX commemorates the tenth anniversary of the first test drive of the first prototype CC. Test in 1996 that saw the birth of this car Swede, who currently enjoys a well deserved recognition in the environment.

Of course, the CCR model also has a Guinness record as the fastest production car in the world, to reach 395 km / h in 2005.

Koenigsegg CCX Design

Both the body and interior of Koenigsegg CCX contain new parts. With a redesigned front bumper, designed to pass the rigorous assessment of bumpers, CCx incorporates other modifications including brake cooling, fog lamps and side marker lamps as required by U.S. rules. The headlights have been slightly redesigned to suit the new bumper line.

Side skirts type panels allow more downward force (downforce) as it increases the area under the body. The new car's exterior has been created using CAD software Icem Surf, software industry leader. With this technology, Koenigsegg seeks to ensure the highest level of refinement in details such as the joints between pieces.

The car is 88 mm long by changes made to comply with U.S. rear impact regulations. This also served to free up space around the muffler. The engine cover is now actually a glass window on the new drive.

Koenigsegg CCX Technology

The Koenigsegg CCX offers an optional ceramic brake discs of 382 mm diameter for the front wheels and 362 mm at the rear wheels. These brakes have 8-piston calipers up front and 6 rear. Each ceramic brake disc is 2 pounds lighter than the standard ones.

Another innovation that sets a precedent, being its first application in the market, wheels are optional carbon fiber. Again, each carbon rim is 3 pounds lighter than magnesium alloy. Thus, the CCX save 5 pounds per wheel, making the super car with less weight placed on the ground. This is a way to differentiate the suspended mass that makes contact with the ground.

The semi-monocoque type chassis is constructed of carbon fiber pre-impregnated honeycomb and Kevlar combined. This use of aerospace technology, increasingly applied in automobiles, help maintain low weight, reduce the size while maintaining structural rigidity for optimal handling and high effectiveness against impacts.

The streamlined look forward too surprising. The side air intakes air flow lead to the center creating a zone of high pressure, achieving something that few sports achieved without placing an air intake on the roof.

Koenigsegg CCX engine

Perhaps most striking of the work on this engine, it manages to adapt to 91 octane fuel and pollution standards of California without renouncing their original strength. To this end, redesigned cylinder heads, adding more area for the operation of the valves.

Other changes are new camshafts and fuel injectors using smaller double. The fuel tank was also replaced by a new one.

The optimized Koenigsegg V8 engine with two superchargers. The block is aluminum and has four valves per cylinder dual overhead cam head. With 4,700 cm3 displacement and compression ratio of 8.2 to 1, the driver of 806 hp CCX accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds and enables a maximum speed of 395 km / h.
